It all starts with the SOIL: Short Film

Uncategorized Oct 06, 2020

Here it is, the full interview with Jared Luhman, Soil Health Lead from the Sustainable Farming Association.

This soil sampling adventure is brought to you by Kiss The Ground and Sustainable Farming Association as a part of the KTG Farmland Program. We are working with these organizations to assess, test and document the soil health across the farm here. Kiss the Ground will be writing up a report on the results sometime this fall/winter and we look forward to sharing the results with you and working with Jared Luhman to discuss the findings to better understand how we can work toward improving the farmland, building healthier soils and sequestering more carbon!

As we all work together to create a regenerative future, these partnership are absolutely crucial. This is a testament to how organizations can help farmers continue to evolve and the importance of all of us opening the doors to collaboration to heal this planet and our communities and ecosystems. At the Organic Compound we have been opening our doors for this collaboration for around a decade. What started as a small community garden has grown to a movement of people working together to restore this land and grow a regenerative farm. This collaboration and the many that have manifested over the time we have been gathering on the land here are just pieces to the greater ecosystem we are all building to regenerate our spirits and the ways we work with each other and the earth.

Remember that old saying from Margaret Mead, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." This sentiment can carry into all of our lives and into the health of our soils. As we do this work, so to do the microbes. It only takes a small group of microbes gathering on the land, working together to start the journey into building healthier soils. Feed those soils, feed your community, because you never know what great changes it may lead to in the vast ecosystem of life.
